Engagment Session - Stephen & Cherrilyn (Los Angeles, CA)

Stephen + Cherrilyn = one of the cutest couples you'll ever see. They're both really gentle, kind, and extremely talented and artistic. They care for each other deeply, have loads of goofy fun together, and both of them are always genuinely looking out for the best interests of the other. And honestly, none of that is an exaggeration!

When Stephen (who happens to be an old junior high and high school classmate) and Cherrilyn (who happens to be my beautiful sister-in-law) got engaged this summer, they contacted me right away to book me for their upcoming January wedding. Fast-forward a few months, and it was time to shoot their engagement session. Even though Stephen had hurt his back the day before and Cherrilyn had been having a bad morning, we turned it all around! We managed to get around San Marino and Downtown L.A. and capture some amazing images and have buckets of fun doing so.

Here are some highlights from the day:

Stephen & Cherrilyn, thank you for trusting me to do my thing. I could not ask for better clients. And I could not be happier for you two! Finding your perfect partner and sharing your lives together may be completely different from the romanticized pictures we have growing up, yet they are so much better in so many ways. I wish you the best and can't wait until your wedding day!

The Taylor Family

I was so excited when the Taylor family decided to do this session with me! I knew beforehand from talking to them and watching them interact that they would be a whole ton of fun, and they did not disappoint. Super-cute, energetic, truly warm and welcoming, and I think the images really captured that. Here are some of my favorites...

A hundred thanks to Jonathan, Hillary, Madeline, Jared, Grace and Justin, for letting me spend the afternoon with your family to catch a glimpse of how incredible it is in your household. It was an honor and distinct pleasure.

My Ladies

Wedding - Katrina & Nathan

Several weekends ago, when Cary Pennington asked me if I would be available to second shoot another wedding with him, I jumped at the chance. Cary is so good at what he does, builds great relationships with his clients, and is generally just very laid back, so it's always fun to work with him. Nathan & Katrina flew in from Texas to get married at The Dana on Mission Bay in San Diego, CA. Their closest friends and family also flew in from all over the country; one of Nathan's groomsmen, a friend from his high school days, even flew in from Germany! All in all, it was an incredible day -- crisp weather, a beautiful venue, awesome company, sweet decor, good food, and a fun party atmosphere to top the night off -- the way an ideal wedding should go.

On to the goods... This time around, I decided to do something a little different and post some more unique images -- images that have either been captured or processed a little differently than I usually do, or images that I normally wouldn't choose to show but that I felt spoke to me at a more intrinsic level. I hope you enjoy them; I'm actually curious to see in the comments what you think.

Note: all images in this post were shot for Cary Pennington Photography. Go check out more of his work here.

Hannah's First Halloween

Okay, so I'm over a week late posting this, but here we are. Can you figure out what her costume was? For some reason, we had some confused looks that night; someone from our local Henry's market even said, "What a cute bear!"

And here's baby with Mommy.
